Sam Lowes scores podium on Parkalgar debut

Sam Lowes scores podium on Parkalgar debut

Parkalgar Honda's new signing Sam Lowes scored a podium result on his debut for the team as he gears up for the 2011 World Supersport championship. Lowes was competing in the end-of-season races in Northern Ireland at the Bishopscourt circuit.

Lowes led much of the opening race but a last lap mistake allowed circuit specialist Marshall Neill on another Honda to just take the honours. In the second race of the day Lowes was forced to retire, while up against Superbikes in the Sunflower race he finished an excellent eighth and was the first 600 home.

"What a start with the team," declared Lowes. "It is different in a lots of areas to what I am used to and in a very good way. I have got to know Phil Marron my crew chief and the Parkalgar Honda - there is so much potential here and I can't wait to get back out. This is a mega start and I am really happy with everything."

Sam Lowes to make Parkalgar debut at Sunflower

Sam Lowes will make his Parkalgar Honda debut at the Sunflower event this weekend.

Sam Lowes will make his first appearance aboard the Parkalgar Honda he will ride in next season's World Supersport Championship at the Sunflower race meeting in Northern Ireland.

The newly crowned British Supersport Champion will step up to the world stage in 2011 as the replacement for twice WSS runner-up Eugene Laverty, but will embark on his first race outing for the team this weekend at Downpatrick.

He will be joined by James Ellison, the Swan Honda BSB rider making his Parkalgar debut as well.

“The idea is to go to the Sunflower and give initial feedback to the team on the Parkalgar Honda and anything I might need to change about it,” said Lowes, who won the BSS title with GNS Honda.

“That will set us up in good stead for the rest of the winter and when the World Championship testing comes around and should be a good solid start with the team. Saying that, we are going there and I hope to have a winning start with the squad.”

“I'm excited to be riding the Parkalgar Honda,” Ellison added. “The season is over for me and the pressure is off in BSB for results so I can enjoy this ride. The last time I rode a Supersport bike was last year at Parkalgar in a test and I am looking to have a bit of fun and see how I fare in the class – I'm looking forward to it.”
