Andrea Iannone shows no signs of hesitance in warm up

The Fimmco Speed Up rider was back on his machine after a heavy crash in qualifying yesterday to set the fastest time in warm up, ahead of the Moto2 Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Andrea Iannone, who will start the Moto2 race at Indianapolis from 26th place on the grid after his qualifying session was cut short by a heavy fall on Saturday, set the quickest time in warm up on Sunday morning. The Italian’s time of 1’45.720 was over three-tenths faster than Julián Simón’s pole position lap.

The Mapfre Aspar rider was second in the session (+0.223s) as he confirmed his set-up on his Suter machine, with fellow front-row starters Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) and Simone Corsi (JiR Moto2) completing the top four. Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing) was 14th.

Alex Debón (Aeroport de Castelló-Ajo), Shoya Tomizawa (Technomag-CIP) and Sergio Gadea (Tenerife 40 Pons) all had falls towards the end of the session. Absent from the warm up after being declared unfit for the race was Fonsi Nieto (G22 Holiday Gym), who will today undergo surgery in Indianapolis hospital on the fractures of the talus and calcaneus bones in his left ankle following a crash in Saturday’s qualifying session.

The Moto2 race gets underway at 1.15pm local time.
