Carlos Checa- It’s just the colours really

Carlos Checa says he would be interested in a move to the factory-backed Ducati Xerox team in 2011, even if he suggests there isn't so much of a difference to his privateer Althea bike.

Checa has been Ducati's lead rider for much of the 2010 season, the Spaniard currently fourth in the standings having won once at Phillip Island and scored well in nearly every race.

Going a long way to reviving a reputation that had suffered in 2009 aboard the Ten Kate Honda, Checa is now tipped for a possible switch to the top Ducati team next season in place of either Noriyuki Haga or Michel Fabrizio.

While it remains to be seen whether Ducati is considering replacing its two riders, who were expected to fight for the title in 2010, Checa admits he would consider the option if it presented itself.

“It would fantastic to be there, but I can't say whether I will be going there,” he told Crash.net. “At the moment, we are just talking. My name is around, but with other names, and it is their decision to make. To be here, with the Althea team, there is a good chance too, so I would have to consider the two options if they come.

Still, even if Checa does not move to Xerox, he maintains the Althea team is just a good alternative, joking the difference between the two bikes is just the colours.

“I am happy here and I am working well with this team and we have been getting close to the official bike, so it's just the colours really!”
