Broc Parkes (Kawasaki Motocard.com) did not get to stand on the podium at the Nürburgring in his first ride for Kawasaki, but he was eventually awarded an impressive podium finish behind Eugene Laverty and Kenan Sofuoglu when Gino Rea was excluded.
After almost two years back in the Superbike World Championship Broc had just one test in Almeria before competing on the Ninja ZX-6R in Germany. He did not need much more as he ran close to the front from the start of the weekend. Parkes had been impressive enough in practice to start in a front row position, the 39th front row of his Supersport career.
Broc has now scored 24 WSS podiums, and has achieved this feat with three manufacturers - Honda, Yamaha and now Kawasaki.
He stated after the race, "I was pretty happy with fourth, so to then get third was great for the team and myself in my first ride. The first part of my race wasn't real good. I tried to go with the top two guys and had a couple of moments on the first and second lap. I didn't quite have the pace and got passed by a couple of guys, until I got into a bit of a rhythm. I just lacked a little bit of confidence with the front and in the early laps I did not want to throw it down the road. I tried to learn a little bit from the other guys, and I think we are all happy with the result."
