The World Superbike newcomer wants to see out the season riding with the factory Kawasaki team after scoring on his debut.
Ian Lowry is hoping he has done enough to retain his ride with Kawasaki following an encouraging World Superbike debut at the Nurburgring.
The Northern Irishman was drafted in as the latest replacement for the sidelined Chris Vermeulen, but despite lacking substantial knowledge of the bike and the circuit, he was a consistent top twenty rider throughout the weekend.
Capitalising on a few retirements ahead of him in race one, Lowry went on to score points on his debut outing with a run to 12th place – higher than Vermeulen had managed up to his withdrawal -, though he would blot his copybook with a crash in race two.
Nonetheless, Lowry was pleased with his performance and will now wait to discover whether Kawasaki will keep him on board for the final two events in Italy and France.
“I was really excited to have been asked to ride this weekend for the Factory Kawasaki Team and although I obviously haven't ridden around the Nurburgring before or spent much time on the bike, I felt that I started the weekend in pretty good shape.
“I spent most of Friday learning the track and getting my base setting comfortable and with each session on track I felt more comfortable and could see that I was making progress on my lap times.
“I was really pleased to have finished 12th in race one and get some points for the team but I'm just a bit disappointed that I didn't get to improve my time and performance in race two having had a slide off after we took the wrong direction with our settings.
“But without focusing on the negatives, overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my first outing at the World Superbikes with the Kawasaki Racing Team and I hope that I get another opportunity to race with them again.”
