Loris Capirossi ruled out for Aragon

The Rizla Suzuki rider will not participate in this weekend’s Gran Premio A-Style de Aragón as his injured right hand continues to heal.

Álvaro Bautista will be the sole Rizla Suzuki representative in Round 13 of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship at Aragón this weekend, after Loris Capirossi confirmed on Monday that he will not ride at the Spanish circuit this coming weekend.

Capirossi underwent reconstructive surgery to the little finger in his right hand last Monday in San Marino after injuring the digit in a fall on the opening lap of the race at Misano. The 37 year-old had been hopeful of being fit in time to ride at Aragón, but a week after the operation has been advised to continue to rest.

“I am extremely disappointed not to be racing at Aragón, but the surgeon has told me to rest the hand for another week,” explained Capirossi. “I am still feeling a bit of pain and I’m going to the hospital every day to have the wound cleaned and dressed, so although I could possibly be able to ride I wouldn’t be fit enough and it might jeopardise my attendance and competitiveness at Motegi if I did – so it’s best to stay at home.”

“I wish Álvaro all the best for the weekend and hope that he gets a good result for us – we certainly need one. I’ll be back for the trio of races next month and will be looking to get some good results at circuits where I know we can go well.”
