The Italian, riding for the Vector Kiefer Racing Team this weekend at Aragón, was quickest in the second session on Friday which was affected by the rain.
Mattia Pasini managed to get in a quick lap before the rain that marked the second practice session at the Gran Premio A-Style de Aragón on Friday afternoon arrived, setting the fastest lap of the second session – a 1’56.368 which placed him third in the combined times for both Friday sessions.
Pasini, riding as a replacement for Michael Ranseder on the Vector Kiefer Racing Team this weekend, led JiR Moto2 rider Alex de Angelis in the session by 0.030s as the San Marino rider continued to stand in for Yusuke Teshima. Pasini’s time was the third fastest of the day, behind the morning laps of Andrea Iannone and Julián Simón in the combined times.
Third in FP2 was Scott Redding, as the Marc VDS rider timed in at just 0.056s off Pasini. Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Moriwaki) and Héctor Faubel (Marc VDS) completed the top five in the session, with Simón sixth and within half a second of Pasini.
Morning pace setter Iannone was eighth, with Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing) 20th as all riders rode cautiously in the conditions. Kenny Noyes of the Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas team had a fall, his second of the day, and avoided any consequences.
