Max Biaggi set to go solo for Aprilia at Imola

Max Biaggi is set to ride a sole Aprilia Alitalia bike at Imola after it was confirmed Leon Camier will skip the penultimate round of the 2010 World Superbike Championship.

Camier has been a doubt for the final two events of the season after his crash during practice at the Nurburgring, the Briton breaking the scaphoid bone in his wrist and requiring surgical intervention.

While the surgery was deemed a success, Camier faces a period of time in recovery, one that will force him to watch the action from the sidelines at Imola. Furthermore, the proximity of the Magny-Cours event just a week later could well see him out for the remainder of the year, though this is still undecided.

In the meantime, an Aprilia spokesman has revealed the team is at this time unlikely to replace Camier for the final two events, meaning Biaggi will go it alone in his quest to wrap up both the riders' and manufacturers' title for the first time.

Aprilia welcomed a stand-in rider for the injured Shinya Nakano at Imola last season in the form of MotoGP racer Marco Simoncelli, the Italian proceeding to star with a run to the podium on his debut.
