The Briton claims a sixth pole position of the season in France, a final reward for the Yamaa Sterilgarda team.
Cal Crutchlow says he is determined to 'reward' Yamaha Sterilgarda with two World Superbike victories ahead of his burgeoning MotoGP career after notching up his sixth pole position at Magny-Cours.
The Briton has been the star performer during Superpole this season with previous 'Saturday successes' at Portimao, Valencia, Kyalami, Brno and Silverstone, but on the weekend he signs off from World Superbikes, he was able to score one more.
While those pole positions have only enabled him to win on two occasions this season – both times at Silverstone -, Crutchlow is optimistic he will be in contention for victory around the French circuit, a just reward for the manufacturer he took to the World Supersport title.
“It's nice to be going in to my last Superbike race before I head off to Moto GP with a pole position,” he said. “It's a good reward for Yamaha they've put their trust and faith in me for the next two years so it's good to deliver for them.
“I want to make it two race wins tomorrow for sure, it's taken a while to find race pace this weekend, maybe we've found something in the Superpole, we'll see tomorrow and I'm hoping for two good races. I sat behind Max, if he tried to go and take pole away I was going to try and get ahead of him into one of the hairpins and go faster."
Crutchlow is placed fifth in the standings, one point ahead of Noriyuki Haga.
