James Toseland heads for last R1 races

James Toseland, SuperBike

James Toseland will start his last two World Superbike races on a Yamaha R1 this weekend at the Magny-Cours finale.

The double world champion is still to confirm where he will ride in 2011 - having been linked with the likes of BMW and Ten Kate Honda - but what is clear is that he won't stay at Yamaha, which has signed Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri.

Toseland returned to WSBK at the start of this year, after two seasons in MotoGP. determined to battle for a third world title. The #52 took four podiums during rounds three, four and five, but hasn't been on the rostrum since.

Whilst MotoGP-bound team-mate Cal Crutchlow has taken two race wins and risen to fifth in the championship, Toseland has dropped back to seventh - a position he is mathematically unable to improve upon whatever happens this weekend.

"I am determined to go to Magny Cours for my last two races on the R1 and deliver good results," said Toseland, who claimed both of his world titles at the track.

"I have always been lucky at the French circuit, after a year if lots of bad luck I think we deserve some good luck here!

"We had really good pace at Imola in the races and had found a great set up so I want to use that to score in France."
