Australian Jed Metcher, who made his European Superstock 600 Championship debut at Magny-Cours after taking part in this year's 2010 IDM Superbike series, has signed up to race full-time for the newly-formed MtM-RT Motorsports team next season.
20-year-old Metcher, who comes from Melbourne, made an excellent impression in France by taking his first race win in the class on his first attempt, albeit after a crash had eliminated the leaders towards the end.
MtM and IDM campaigners RT Motorsports team have now decided to pool their resources for next year, and with Metcher already under contract, the name of a second rider will be announced shortly.
"It is a big relief to know that I can go home with a secure ride in Europe in these tough times. It's very important to prepare mentally and physically for a racing season and this security, thanks to Rob Vennegoor and Ludo van der Veeken means that I can start this preparation early in order to ensure that we have a successful season. My aim is to finish on the podium at every round and also to impress the likes of the World championship paddock by winning the championship in my first year. I believe with the combined efforts of MtM and RT Motorsports this is very achievable!"
