"I will never stop thanking Ducati for their refusal to sign me in 2009"
Having wrapped up his and Aprilia's first World Superbike crown last weekend at Imola, Max Biaggi has his sights firmly set on beating Ducati to the Manufacturers' crown in Sunday's Magny-Cours season finale.
Biaggi has never forgiven Ducati for turning him down for a 2009 factory seat - after which he instead signed for Aprilia's new RSV4 project - and the snub was even listed on Biaggi's world championship t-shirt at Imola, which said:
"I will never stop thanking Ducati for their refusal to sign me in 2009"
The Roman should now get the chance to twist the knife further, as he only needs to score 9 points for Aprilia during Sunday's two races to settle the 2010 Manufacturers' contest and complete a dream season.
"It would be truly exceptional to be able to place the manufacturer world title next to my rider world title," said Biaggi.
"Most of all I think it would be a great reward for the guys on the team and the entire Racing Division who, together with me, have given a performance this season which will go down in the history of our sport. As always, we will be giving it our all."
The only unexpected hitch is that Biaggi is suffering from the 'flu at present.
"Unfortunately I am struggling with a less than brilliant physical condition which is hopefully just a passing 'flu and won't ruin this last weekend of the 2010 season," he said.
Biaggi's team-mate Leon Camier is missing the event due to injury.
Ducati's factory team is withdrawing from WSBK after Magny-Cours.
