New champion Jorge Lorenzo returns home

Two weeks after winning the 2010 MotoGP World Championship, Jorge Lorenzo returns home to celebrate.

Jorge Lorenzo has finally gotten the opportunity to truly savour his MotoGP title triumph as he returned to his native Mallorca to celebrate with family, friends and fans.

Thousands of people turned out to witness the FIAT Yamaha rider as he touched down on home soil for the first time since wrapping up the title at the Malaysian Grand Prix almost two weeks ago.

He was met by crowds and dignitaries at the airport before enjoying a parade through the capital city of Palma de Mallorca, ending at the Illes Balears Presidential Palace.

He then presented one of his special 'Astronaut' helmets to President Frances Antich, before joining his family on the palace balcony to wave to the thousands of people below, who joined together in a rendition of 'We Are The Champions'.

The 23-year-old will now enjoy some time at home with his friends and family before the penultimate round of the championship at Estoril in Portugal.
