Ducati Xerox will look to salvage what's left of its 2010 World Superbike season over the final three rounds with a planned one-day test at Mugello.
The Italian manufacturer is on the cusp of losing its manufacturer crown with only Nurburgring, Imola and Magny-Cours remaining, Ducati currently positioned third in the constructor standings, 88 points adrift of leaders Aprilia.
While it is still in the hunt for second, thanks in part to the efforts of the satellite Althea team which has accounted for Ducati's top scores on eight occasions this season, it is also coming under a renewed threat from Yamaha following its double victory at Silverstone.
As such, Ducati have taken to Mugello for a test with riders Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio in an effort to get the 'rust' off them.
"We test at Mugello quite regularly, sometimes with a private rider sometimes with the official riders," said team principal Ernesto Marinelli. "In the case of Mugello, it is not a racetrack for World Superbike, so there is no restriction. We will test with our riders for a day.
“We are doing it to get the 'rust' out of them after some time away from the track, like we did last year. It will help us when we arrive in Nürburgring."
