Jorge Lorenzo is working towards a deal for the 2011 season after admitting he hasn't quite sealed his immediate future.
While the departure of Valentino Rossi and the arrival of Ben Spies would appear to make Jorge Lorenzo's renewal at Yamaha a foregone conclusion, the Spaniard insists he hasn't put pen to paper.
The 2010 champion-elect is set to front the Yamaha team into the 2011 when he takes team leader status from Rossi, but insists the inevitable hasn't quite occurred yet.
Touching again on Rossi's 'big and interesting' decision to join Ducati next season, Lorenzo adds that he hopes a deal with Yamaha will be sealed soon.
“Valentino is going to Ducati, it is official. It's very big news and very interesting news. A very hard challenge for him, for Ducati. We all hope next year the championship could be more interesting, this for sure.
“For my side, I still haven't signed with Yamaha, but we all hope that it comes very soon.”
Part of the motivation behind Lorenzo'a decision to stall could be related to uncertainty over sponsors for next season. Yamaha are thought to be in talks with Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica Movistar about a possible sponsorship deal with Lorenzo in 2011.
