New chassis and sore chest for Pedrosa

New chassis and sore chest for Pedrosa

Dani Pedrosa got the chance to refine his race day set-up during Monday's Brno MotoGP test, when he also tried a new chassis for his factory Honda.

On the flip side, Pedrosa was left with a sore chest after falling from his race bike, while afternoon rain meant he didn't get the chance to try the 2011 Ohlins suspension on offer.

Pedrosa's crash occurred at around 11.30am, when he lost the rear through turn seven of the Czech Republic Grand Prix circuit.

“This morning we started with our race set-up from yesterday and made some improvements to the rear grip which could help us in the upcoming races," explained Dani, second to Jorge Lorenzo in the race and in the world championship standings.

"I had a crash with the race bike late in the morning and took an impact on my chest which might be painful [on Tuesday], but luckily I was able to get back on the bike this afternoon without any problems."

The new chassis is aimed at providing improving stability on corner entry, something Pedrosa has struggled with all year.

Significantly, Pedrosa set his best lap time while using the new chassis, despite only completing five fast laps before the rain arrived.

"I tested an updated chassis and the initial results were positive, but I had only five laps on it before the rain ended the day for us," said the Spaniard, who was third fastest at the test, 0.675sec behind Lorenzo.

"We weren't able to test the new Ohlins suspension which is a pity because these were new parts for next year, but overall it was a worthwhile test," he concluded.

Team-mate Andrea Dovizioso was eighth quickest.
