Repsol Honda's Andrea Dovizioso spent most of Monday's Brno MotoGP test working on both present and future versions of Ohlins' suspension for his RC212V.
The Italian also evaluated a modified version of the thumb operated rear brake he tried earlier in the season and had just begun to try electronic modifications when rain arrived.
Dovi's fastest lap time was a 1min 57.691sec, good enough for eighth.
"Today we tested the new Ohlins front forks and shock for next year and we will take a look at the data collected from those runs to verify the results," said Dovizioso, who crashed out of Sunday's Czech Republic race.
"We also tested this year's Ohlins components with modified settings, and the feeling was good so we'll take those to the next race at Indianapolis. We made some adjustments to the front set-up which has improved the stability.
"Our plan was also to test some modifications to the electronic controls and we started this, but the rain interrupted us so we didn't get through the full programme. Still, we did some valuable work today which should help us at the upcoming races”.
Team-mate Dani Pedrosa, who tried a new chassis but not the Ohlins suspension, was third quickest.
