Cal Crutchlow finishes breakthrough season in style

Cal Crutchlow adds a third win to his World Superbike tally before he ventures to MotoGP with a dominant performance at Magny-Cours.

Cal Crutchlow will head to MotoGP with one more World Superbike win to his name after he gave Yamaha Sterilgarda a big 'thank you' performance at Magny-Cours.

Safe in the knowledge that he will ride for Tech 3 Yamaha in MotoGP next season, Crutchlow added further credibility to his reputation by following up a sixth WSBK pole position with a third season victory in race one.

A dominant performance by the 24-year-old, although he couldn't quite make it a double in race two when he was unable to dislodge Max Biaggi, Crutchlow considers a first and second place finish in his final WSBK event a perfect reward for the Yamaha team.

"It was two really close and enjoyable races today. All credit to Max, he rode really well. To have +0 on the board every lap is a big pressure so he did fantastically. He is the championship winner so to be battling with him at the end is good for me. Finishing fifth is not too bad,

“I'm Rookie of the Year as well. I came into the championship with high expectations, Yamaha has done a great job and I'm pleased with the end results. The team have been fantastic so I owe them all a big thank you along with all the sponsors and everyone that's made it possible for us to go out there and give it our best this year."

Crutchlow concludes his one and only WSBK season in fifth position overall, just 13 points adrift of third place man Carlos Checa.
