The Dutch outfit looks to build on its success as Honda's lead operation for the last decade.
Honda Motor Europe has announced that it will continue to back the Ten Kate Racing team in the World Superbike Championship for another three years.
The Dutch-based team has been at the forefront of Honda's WSBK campaign for more than a decade, a relationship that has led to one World Superbike and eight World Supersport titles in that time.
As such, after another successful season with rider Jonathan Rea winning four races on the way to fourth in the standings, Honda will maintain its support until the end of the 2013 season to provide 'stability'.
“After ten years of collaboration in the World Superbike paddock, we are happy to say that the level of co-operation between ourselves and Ten Kate Racing is stronger than ever,” said HME sporting manager Carlo Fiorani. “We are therefore delighted to confirm that this partnership will continue into the future.”
“We are very happy to remain loyal to Honda,” added Gerrit ten Kate. “We have enjoyed a really good relationship for the past decade and enjoyed multiple world championships and race wins together.
“This new three-year agreement will enable us to continue with our technical development, our rider programme and to maintain a strong team structure. In the next few weeks we will finalise those three ingredients to prepare for the future.”
Rea is already confirmed as continuing for another season in 2011, while ex-MotoGP rider Alex de Angelis has been tipped to join him, though the Sammarinese is also keen to remain in Moto2. There are also rumours that former iconic backers Castrol could return as a title sponsor to replace Hanspree.
