Jorge Lorenzo leads second session at Motegi

Jorge Lorenzo, Fiat Yamaha Team, MotoGP, Japan

The Championship leader was the quickest in FP2 at the Grand Prix of Japan by 0.423s, with Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi following on the timesheet in the final session before Saturday qualifying.

Jorge Lorenzo's fastest lap of 1'47.413 was the best of the second and final practice session at Motegi on Saturday, leaving the Fiat Yamaha rider and Championship leader 0.423s clear of the remainder of the MotoGP field.

Following the 23 year-old on the timesheet was Andrea Dovizioso, now the sole Repsol Honda representative this weekend after Dani Pedrosa's injury yesterday, as the Italian beat fellow countryman and Lorenzo's team-mate Valentino Rossi - who was quickest in FP1 - to second position by 0.069s. The top three were the only riders who broke the 1'48" marker in the hour-long run.

Casey Stoner was fourth on his factory Ducati Desmosedici GP10 at just over six-tenths off Lorenzo, with Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki) and Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) completing the top six and the last pair to get within a second of the top time.

Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki) who had an early run off was seventh, with Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team), Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) all in the top ten.
